Thank you for inviting me to your blog with my new release MM romance release, Dragon Bridge, from Evernight Publishing

I first started thinking about this story around two years ago when I saw a shadow across the full moon that looked like a dragon. It was a dark gray cloud, but it captured my imagination and for a year, I considered a plot that might work that sight into a story and so the legend of Ponte Drago, (Dragon Bridge) was born.

It still took me a year to write Dragon Bridge, weaving my legend through the love story to provide the background for characters.

I researched Italy, where the bulk of the story takes place, a little, just enough to imagine places that might exist, but not enough to describe existing towns as I wrote that might take away from the mysterious element I wanted in the story. I’d love to visit Italy for the art that exists there … maybe one day.

My lovely hero Key Alder is an ordinary guy, worn down by life as many people are. Naturally, I’m in love with him, as I am with all my characters. We meet him when he’s struggling emotionally with his work. His journey through this love story allows him to find his lost confidence and in the end, huge courage.

Claudio Di Fiore, my other hero, as Key Alder puts it, is gorgeous and enigmatic. I think, right now, he is one of my favorite characters from any of my MM romance stories. His love for Key is steadfast and fierce. He’s fearless until he falls in love with Key and then Claudio’s only fear is losing him.

The story is contemporary, gay, MM romance, fantasy, adventure, and paranormal romance.

I hope readers enjoy the legend and the love story as much as I loved writing it.

As he turned a corner of the high coast road, Key caught his breath as his destination came into sight. The entire hillside of a gorgeous bay housed buildings interspersed with trees and flowering shrubs. Several rooftops sprouted palms in huge pots or tubs of bright flowers. Each building climbed the sheer hillside effortlessly from a beach of white sand toward a wall of crags enclosing the bay. The sun slanted off a jade colored dome and sprinkled glitter on primary colored buildings close by. Key slowed to enter the town, already well below the speed limit in awe of the view, he crawled the car to his hotel. Key had spent hours on the internet making sure he knew where it lay. His newfound fragile lightheartedness wouldn’t stand going around in circles until he was exhausted trying to find the place.

A valet took his car keys to park his rental. A porter picked up his luggage and led him to check in. Relieved by these ministrations, Key smiled at the desk clerk. He gave his name. The young woman on duty returned his smile and keyed something into a computer, then she stood and took a keycard from one of the small rectangular openings in the wall behind the desk. Her near perfect English as she spoke to him was reassuring, but Key decided right then that he’d try to learn some Italian. Then I could at least greet people and say thank you.

Writing Love in Danger from E. D. Parr

When I wrote Love in Danger, I wanted the story to have a completely different feel to my other stories.

Usually, my stories have the two main characters that are going to fall in love meeting in the first few chapters. Their meeting and falling in love is the story. There is always a happy ending, so often I will give readers a look at their future in a decision to stay together, marry, or a view of how happy they are after being committed partners for some time. I’m a big fan of love at first sight. Readers can blame it on Jane Austen, Shakespeare, and even Dickens to a certain extent.

So what’s different in Love in Danger? The two main romantic heroes are already together as Love in Danger starts. They’re warrior partners and lovers. They’ve been together for some time.

Writing this story with the heroes already in love gave me such pleasure, I might have to write another story where this is the case. (Smiles) The love between Corin and Marcus is obvious, but Corin can’t admit that he loves Marcus by saying the actual words, and that forms the romance ‘conflict’ within the story. This Sci-Fi story has horror themes, and adventure, including events that focus Corin on the need to tell Marcus besides showing him just how much he loves Marcus.

Marcus adores Corin and isn’t afraid to say so. He’s a sweetheart and it shows in how we see him assisting Corin.

Both heroes are special to me. Their origins and courage are epic. Their love is red hot and tender. I don’t know any authors who don’t fall in love with their characters. I always do, so I hope that readers love Corin and Marcus. I hope too, that readers enjoy the inclusion of another warrior in the story, Zeb, who used to be Corin’s lover. He’s a big part of the story without being part of the romance.

I hope readers enjoy Love in Danger, as much I loved writing it.

I am so excited that Completely Yours is finally out! It was such a thrill to write this novel, even though I had to rewrite the thing about five times. I guess it was necessary, because by the time it hit my editor’s desk, she didn’t have any structural comments (a lot of line edits, though!).

Writing is not my full time job, so I have to find time in between all my other responsibilities to write. Which is why it takes me long to write a full length novel. I usually write the first draft of my novels during NaNoWriMo in November and then rewrite it a few times before I’m finally happy with it.

Completely Yours started as the story of Alisha, but it soon became clear that it’s as much about Caroline and Daniel as it is about Alisha. Daniel was the hardest character to write, as he kept eluding me! But in the end, I was able to pin him down and flesh out his story. I found out that he is a true romantic, which is so lovely. Of course this book has a happy ending (or it wouldn’t be a romance), but you’ll have to read the book to find out what type of happy ending it is!

Half an hour later he felt more human. It was always good to wash the grime of a flight off him, even if it was only a brief trip on a private jet. He took his time getting dressed, not willing to leave his room yet. He’d acted unbelievably unprofessional around Alisha. He needed to apologize to her. But first, he needed to speak to Caroline.

He felt nauseous with anxiety. He hated tough conversations, and this would be the hardest one of all. He and Caroline went way back—to the beginning of Black Goddess. The company was all Caroline’s creation, but he’d become her business partner shortly after she had started. He’d always wondered if she really needed him or if she’d hired him because he’d had a hard time finding a job. Not that he didn’t add value, he knew he did. But Caroline was the heart and brains of the company.

Ten years. That was how long the company had been around. It was a wonderful milestone, and it seemed the appropriate time for him to do what he’d been planning for a long time. He would hand in his notice. It was time to look for a different job. Ten years with one of the fastest-growing beauty companies had been amazing for his resume, and the job offers had been flowing for a while now. He’d never considered leaving Black Goddess until now.

He sighed and rubbed his eyes. Now that the moment had come, he wondered if he was doing the right thing. Leaving the company he had helped nourish and grow was a huge step. But he’d agonized over it for months, and the more he delayed it, the worse his performance was getting. Even Caroline had commented on his occasional absent-mindedness. 

Not that he didn’t like his job anymore. He liked it perhaps too much. The days spent working with Caroline to smooth out problems were the happiest of his life. And over the last few years, she’d become more than a colleague and a friend to him. He’d never confided in her, though. Caroline was a free spirit, not one to be tied down in a relationship. She had casual lovers, but on over one occasion she had grumbled to him that her lovers eventually got clingy. 

Why can’t we just enjoy the sex? she had lamented. Why must there always be commitment?

Commitment was all he wanted. But Caroline didn’t know that. He hadn’t been in a relationship in years. He’d dated, but inevitably he’d compare his girlfriends to Caroline and they invariably fell short. Eventually he’d given up. It wasn’t fair to the women he dated. They weren’t Caroline, and Caroline was off bounds. He’d tried to make it work. God knew he’d tried so hard. But he couldn’t deny his heart. It belonged to Caroline, and seeing her every day, knowing he’d never be with her, was eating him alive. 

Not that he’d been celibate. But like Caroline, he didn’t want commitment. Because the only woman he wanted to commit himself to was her.

And that was why he had to leave. He had to put some distance between himself and Caroline to allow himself time to sort out his feelings. Date again without comparing his dates to her. And maybe, after not seeing her for a while, he’d get over his attraction to her and open up his heart to other women. 

Caroline wouldn’t take his resignation well. He’d had to craft a likely story, because telling her the actual reason he no longer wanted to work with her was unthinkable. It would ruin their friendship. He just hoped she’d buy his excuse. 

He took a deep breath, squared his shoulders and left the room.

Noah, If you were a dessert, what would you be?

(Laughs) A dessert … I’d have to be my favorite wouldn’t I. Chocolate ice cream with mocha sauce.

What do you do when you need to blow off steam?

Usually I run around the park near where Oliver and I live now, but before we lived together, I dashed into the city gym when I could. I used to do a lot of Parkour, but I’ve toned that down since I got a little older and busier with my work. (Laughs) It might look a little weird a mid-twenties guy in a business suit free running through the city.

What do you look for in a man?

Nothing now I’ve met Oliver. He’s perfect for me. I love him. He’s intelligent, creative, good-looking, sexy, sweet, caring. Next time I’ll bring him with me.

What is in your refrigerator right now?

Oliver and I live together now. There’s cold chicken, and some beer. Honestly, we need to go out for groceries so there’s not much in there right now.

What’s on your bedroom floor?

A pile of fashion magazines and journals. A few design books. An iPad. Probably a t-shirt…

What do you wear in bed?

Depends what I’m doing (smiles) so it ranges from a t-shirt and boxers to nothing … (smiles again) mostly nothing now.

Light on or off?

Either, both

Chocolate or vanilla?

Is that for licking off Oliver’s abs? Has to be chocolate.

What’s your biggest fear?

Oh, well, I only have to think about that for a second. Honestly, it’s losing Oliver’s love. It would break my heart. Nothing else matters.

What is your most treasured possession?

After the last question, Oliver’s not my possession but I treasure him. I can’t think of one specific thing. I guess I’d be lost without my laptop or phone but I tend not to treasure things as much as experiences and people.

What’s your favorite outfit?

I have some old faded Levis and beaten up leather boots that I rely on when I’m not in suits. I usually throw on a t-shirt and my battered leather jacket over the top. I have to wear suits for work.

What do you like to see Oliver dressed in?

Anything he likes, (his eyes mist a little) although I do like him in his ripped jeans, because there’s a frayed bit high on his thigh… I do love to see him in his blue overcoat. It brings out the color of his gorgeous eyes.

Do you have a favorite music track?
