A Girl By Any Other Name @MKSchiller @Totally_Bound

Please welcome fellow Totally Bound author MK Schiller...

What was your favourite book as a child/teenager?

I loved VC Andrews books – her novels was dark, addicting and sweet at the same time.

Who was the first author or what was the first book you read that introduced you to the genre that you most enjoy writing in?

I have to give props to EL James. I never thought I’d like a man with BDSM desires and mommy issues, but yep, I sure as heck fell in love with him.

Do you believe in love at first sight? And if so have you ever been so afflicted? Did you do anything about it? (Did you go for it?)

I think of it more as interest at first sight. Love at first sight has too much emphasis in the physical. I want to lust someone’s body but fall in love with their mind.

Is there a particular word you overuse or writing technique that your editor(s) ride you about?

Penetrating…lol.

Have you ever suffered from writer’s block? (Or do you even believe in it?) If so, how were you able to overcome it?

Yes, I get blocked, but I usually take a break and read or watch TV. Talking to someone about your book helps a great deal too.

If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?

Somewhere warm – we’re about to get an avalanche of snow so that’s my vote right now.

If you could bring one of your own characters to life, who would it be and why?

I think Dillon from The Other C-Word because he’s adorable, funny and a great best friend.

What are you reading right now?

Gabriel’s Redemption by Sylvain Reynard.

When you read, do you prefer a stand-alone or a series?

I prefer stand-alone or if it a series, one where each book has a conclusion.

If you were to do a reality show, which one would it be?

Big Brother – although I’d probably be awful at it. I love that it’s all mind games.

What is the craziest, most exciting, or most dangerous thing you’ve ever done?

Hmmm….I plead the 5th on this one. I was a wild child once upon a time, and I’m still wondering if that will catch up with me.  I will tell you I once out drank a biker in a dive bar when I was sixteen. I beat him shot for shot. I was very sick the next day, but hey, you don’t get bragging rights like that without any scars.  You know what they say – every bad decision becomes a good story.

Name a celebrity, athlete, musician, etc. you’d most like to get naughty with.

Chris Pine or Charlie Hunnam – both were muses for my books.

What is your favourite way to promote or connect with fans?

I like it when a fan reaches out to me or I’m able to comment on a review they have left. I like it to be a natural process.

Favourite movie?

Hard to say, but I do love 80’s teen angst dramas so The Breakfast Club, St Elmo’s fire, and Say Anything are tops on my list.

Dream Vacation?

A cruise somewhere tropical.

Dream Car?

1969 white Mustang Convertible.

Favourite Ice Cream Flavour?

Ben and Jerry’s Chunky Monkey.

What can readers look forward to next?

I have a novella in Totally Bound’s Paramour collection. I’m excited to have my story featured with some very talented authors.

Please tell us about your newest release.

This is a story about secrets, childhood love, and a traumatic separation. The hero is a southern all around popular boy, Caleb Tanner. He has a big heart and a penchant for swearing. As a child of the 80’s, I added a few grand gestures, a rocking soundtrack, and a healthy heaping of angst.

Blurb –

Everyone tells him he needs to move on, but how can a man function without his heart?

Ten-year-old Caleb Tanner wants nothing to do with Sylvie Cranston, the annoying weird girl who moves next door to him and gets him in trouble for swearing. But at twelve, they become friends when he teaches her how to hook a fishing line and she shows him the value of a selfless act. At fourteen, he falls in love with her.

At sixteen, she dies.

Or so he’s told. But Cal never believes it. Sylvie has become part of his soul. He knows her like the steady beating of his own heart. He’d know if she was dead. Cal looks for her, prays for her and finally he just waits for her.

Nine years later, she walks into the community college English class Cal is teaching. Only this girl claims her name is Sophie Becker and she doesn’t know him. Cal knows better. He’s determined to get the girl he loves back—and protect her from the danger that took her away all those years ago.

Genre: Contemporary suspense romance
EXCERPT :

The worst part of being a kid was that you never knew how good you had it until it was too late.

Childhood was simple. My parents told me it was because I didn’t have bills to pay or mouths to feed, but it was more than that. It was because nothing was planned. When you didn’t plan for it, you didn’t worry about the consequences. They just happened naturally without the coercion, manipulation or mindfuck games that came with becoming an adult.

I never planned for Sylvie Cranston to be my best friend. I never expected her to be the muse in all my dreams, or the girl who later haunted my nightmares. I certainly never planned to fall in love with her, but that was exactly what happened.

Everyone told me I needed to move on. That was like asking me to pierce my own flesh and crush my empty, beating heart. They wanted me to toss it away and continue to breathe. How could a man function without his heart?

Author Bio

MK Schiller is a hopeless romantic in a hopelessly pragmatic world. Writing is her passion, but with a full time life and two busy teenagers, it proves difficult. But in the quiet dark of night, she sits by the warm glow of a computer monitor, and attempt to conjure up passionate heartwarming stories with plenty of humour.

She started imagining stories in her head at a very young age. In fact, friends started making requests for stories where they were featured as the heroine and the object of their affection was the hero. You've heard of fan fiction... this was friend fiction.

Even with that, it took many years to realize her dream. She hopes you enjoy my stories and always find The Happily Ever After in every endeavor.
